9 Items That are Totally Worth Splurging On

They say that the best things in life are free, but I can name a handful of items that cost a pretty penny and are also among the best things that make life a little easier. If you’re the type of person who isn’t particularly fond of spending more than you need to at the mall or at the grocery store, trust me, I get it. Saving a little bit of money here and there can have some pretty rewarding benefits, but when it comes to high-quality items that you use on a daily basis, breaking the bank may prove to be the better long-term option.

Think about it—pricier items are typically more expensive because they're made with superior materials. When you opt for higher-quality items, you reward yourself with products designed to last longer and perform better. So, while the initial spend may be a tough credit card swipe, you won’t regret it days, months, and years down the road.

Not sure which items are worth splurging on? Here’s my recommended guide on the 9 items worth the extra coin.

Money & Mimosas

1. Car

Searching through pages of new cars for sale can be intimidating when you’re cautious with your spending. While you can still shop on a budget, it’s important to allow yourself to splurge on a purchase as big as a car. Vehicles that are safer and more reliable are typically on the more expensive side but are totally worth the extra money.

2. Bed Sheets

You’ll never know the supreme softness of 400-thread-count sheets until you outfit your mattress with a set of luxurious bed sheets. Treat yourself to 5-star-hotel-grade sheets to capture the highest quality of sleep possible—you deserve it.

3. Vacuum

Is there anything more frustrating than a vacuum that doesn’t leave your carpets and flooring looking absolutely spotless? Waste less of your valuable time by upgrading to a top-rated vacuum. The best part? You’ll likely never have to buy a new vacuum after splurging on a top-performing one.

4. Instant Pot

Instant Pots have become the buzz of the cooking world. Whether you’re a novice in the kitchen or a gourmet chef, there’s simply no denying the power of the Instant Pot. Boasting a whopping seven functions, this simple, silver machine is a rice cooker, pressure cooker, slow cooker, steamer, sauté, yogurt maker, and warmer, all in one!

5. Headphones

If you’re the type of person who constantly has a song stuck in your head or a playlist ready for queuing, treating yourself to a high-quality pair of wireless headphones is well worth opening your wallet for. Fortunately, with the widespread popularity of noise-canceling technology, getting your hands on a pair of impressive-sounding headphones doesn't necessarily mean dishing out hundreds of dollars.

6. Weekender Bag

Are you a frequent traveler? Splurging on a weekender bag that comes with all of the space you need and aesthetic appeal you like should be absolutely guiltless. Let’s face it, airline personnel can be rather rough with your belongings, and who knows what happens behind the scenes. A cheap, flimsy weekender bag won’t last more than a few adventures through TSA, so it’s worth spending more to gain the peace of mind you deserve.

7. Makeup

The makeup industry is having a bit of a moment. While big brands are expanding their already-impressive lines of lipsticks and foundations, there are a number of budget brands following in their footsteps—except one thing is missing: quality. Do your skin a favor and opt for makeup products that are cruelty-free and completely safe to put directly on your skin.

8. Jewelry

If you’re the type of gal who wears a select few pieces of jewelry, opting for more expensive pieces that will never turn your skin green or cause any nasty rashes is a great way to spend your cash.

9. Mattress

Did you know that you spend ⅓ of your life asleep? It’s only fair that you treat even your unconscious mind to an experience that is comfortable. A high-quality mattress can alleviate any back or body problems you’ve encountered due to poor sleep posture. And best of all, consistently good sleep is the key to increasing your daily mood.
