Money Date With Breonna Taylor

Every Friday I recommend having a money date…with a mimosa. Hence the name of my blog, Money & Mimosas. Your money date is your special time to review your finances, celebrate your wins, and reflect on how you used your money to make a difference. Feel free to do it alone or with your money buddy. If you’d like a step-by-step guide for your money date, click here to download your free checklist.

In these money date articles, I typically feature small business owners who practice sustainability and ethical sourcing. However, this week is dedicated to Breonna Taylor’s birthday and a celebration of her life.

Breonna Taylor

Ms. Taylor would be 27 today. She was a medical worker in Louisville, Kentucky. One of our essential workers during this Covid-19 pandemic.

Ms. Taylor’s mother, Tamika Palmer, said her daughter had dazzling dreams and planned a lifelong career in health care after serving as an emergency room technician.

Family and friends described Breonna Taylor as someone who adored family, was hardworking, and had big plans for her bright future.

Ms. Taylor’s life was violently cut short by police officers who broke into her home and shot her eight times. If you are not aware of this story, please visit this link to learn more and to sign the petition to have the officers fired.

At Money & Mimosas, we are here to celebrate LIFE. We are committed to showcasing how beautiful life can be when there is an abundance of wealth and vibrancy in health. During your money date, I invite you to celebrate a win in your own life, toast to the beautiful life of Breonna Taylor, and close by donating to one of the causes listed below. The energetic act of “putting your money where your mouth is” is a powerful way to support peace and prosperity on Earth.

Financial ways to celebrate Breonna Taylor’s Life

  1. This GoFundMe is dedicated to Breonna Taylor’s family.

  2. Donate to the Louisville Community Bail Fund to help support the protestors who have been on the ground in Louisville fighting for Breonna. Consider making your donation recurring.

  3. It appears that Kanye and Kim Kardashian-West have offered to pay for the family’s attorney fees. To stay abreast of this information, and if there are other ways to financially support the legal fees involved, follow updates from Ms. Taylor’s attorney- Ben Crump. Here is his website and Instagram.
