Lack of clarity around your soul’s purpose

Many health coaches are incredibly passionate about health, wellness, and helping others feel good in their bodies. However, just because learning about health and helping others are two of your passions, it does not mean that being a health coach is the clearest expression of your soul’s purpose. What if your knowledge of healthy eating habits is meant to be expressed as a high-paid consultant for food companies looking to shift from toxic products to offering sustainable, more nutritious offerings? These brands would pay you considerably more than working with a private client (even affluent clients), as well as give you the opportunity to connect with their customers to fulfill your need of community and allow for a more flexible schedule that does not involve hours of discovery sessions and client calls.

Or maybe you are meant to sign a seven-figure book deal and be a celebrity figure educating the masses on Ayurvedic food principles and not work with clients one-on-one?

Of course, maybe your soul’s purpose is to work with clients one-on-one. However, many health coaches default to this as their only option because they do not know any other way. Making career decisions based on default, and not design, will block you from reaching six-figures and beyond.

Not understanding the roots of your relationship with money

You’ve probably done work around your money story, but if you are not earning the amount of money you desire then there is more to uncover. Your relationship with money is governed by nature and nurture. Nature includes understanding your birth chart - your sun sign and where the planets were situated when you took your first breath.

Nurture includes uncovering your money love language. Understanding your money love language will reveal your deepest desires which indicate what motivates you. It will also reveal your core wounds. These wounds - often related to our experiences as a child and our relationship with our caretakers - will indicate the deep-rooted money blocks preventing you from reaching your highest potential.

Unconscious financial practices

The way you engage with money is a reflection of your values. If you value ethical shopping and conscious banking, then your financial practices need to align with those values. Otherwise, the disconnect between what you say you believe and how you engage with money will send a signal to the Universe to not send you more earthly riches. Why? Because it can’t trust you to be a mindful steward of prosperity. To whom much is given, much is required. As someone who has committed to the path of inner knowing, self-actualization, and conscious living, you are in an agreement with planet Earth and the cosmos to practice money consciousness. If you do not, you will not be given more.

Conscious financial practices begin with becoming aware of your spending and aligning it with your values. To help you get started, click here to download the weekly money date guide.

Assuming your prospective clients have a negative relationship with food

While many health coaches pursue this line of work because of their passion for healthy living, there is a shadow side to their passion. The shadow is that they are building a business around unhealed wounds. They had an eating addiction and still suffer from aspects of a negative relationship with food. Instead of addressing it directly, they push these wounds to the subconscious and turn their attention to serving others. In doing so, they mistakenly assume that others are suffering from a debilitating relationship with food. Not only is this not necessarily the case, but it is also setting you up to put more salt in a wound that you have not addressed. Why? Because you will attract clients who are reflections of the stuff you need to work through in your own personal life. But, since your focus is on the client (as it should be since they are paying you), and not on yourself, you will not be doing the work you need to do to heal your wounds and clear your money blocks.

Not owning your deep, subconscious desire to be wealthy

Whether it is because you grew up with privilege and/or you believe everyone should have access to quality health coaching (and they should), you have unconsciously absorbed the belief that you need to suffer financially because of it. Sure, you may live in a nice place and not “want” for anything, but are you living the highest expression of yourself?

If you read this far in the post, I gather you know deep down that you want to make more money doing what you love. It is time to own your desire to be rich and gorgeous. Becoming wealthy will give you the freedom to support all of the causes you care about and be a powerful change agent in the chemically-laden food industry. Darling, just fucking own it. Own your desire to be wealthy and watch the earthly riches roll into your bank account.

Cha-Ching.
