Millionaire lesson #1: Diversify your business and build a personal brand portfolio.

Rihanna’s personal brand portfolio includes Fenty Beauty, Savage X Fenty (lingerie), her music, a luxury fashion house partnership with LVMH, a shoe line partnership with PUMA, and the Clara Lionel Foundation- a non-profit to fund global emergency response efforts. All of these organizations have a very different business model which creates a solid financial foundation for Rihanna. As someone building their own personal brand, approach it as if you are building an investment portfolio. Treat each project like an investment and nurture the related revenue stream(s).

Millionaire lesson #2: Go inward to boost your self-worth.

In various interviews, Rihanna has shared insights on the inner work she has done to elevate her confidence and self-esteem. Therapy, energy healing, connecting with uplifting girlfriends, and repeating affirmations are all important aspects of building a million-dollar personal brand. If you are looking for exercises to help you boost your self-worth, join the Money Makers and start with my one-hour training entitled: Why your net-worth is directly tied to your self-worth.

Millionaire lesson #3: Be unbothered.

It is clear that Rihanna does not give a fuck what you, I, or anyone else has to say about her. She is clear on her desires and her values. At the same time, she is respectful of others and if she does offend a culture, she immediately corrects it. Such was the case with her apology to the Muslim community after using an Islamic verse in a song. Her ability to hold space for her confidence while remaining humble enough to own up to a mistake is a clear sign that she has done the inner work needed to be unbothered. Being unbothered begins with cultivating your sense of inner approval and inner trust. Once you have established this foundation, you are able to gracefully move through any situation.

Millionaire lesson #4: Embrace your shadow side.

From my perspective, Rihanna’s Good Girl Gone Bad album was a battle cry for any woman who was tired of adhering to rules intended to strip her of her personal power. As women, we are both creators and destroyers, strong and demure, loving and vengeful. Owning all sides of yourself, involves embracing your shadow self. Your shadow is the parts of you that have been forced into hiding. Until you bring them to the light, they will secretly run your life in ways that are less than ideal.

Millionaire lesson #5: Become comfortable with being a spokesperson.

Rihanna shows us that we have to be comfortable with being the face of our personal brand. No one can share your message more authentically than you. Whether it’s hosting your own webinars, speaking at large events, creating your own podcast platform, or using photos of yourself in the marketing campaign, be sure you are front and center in your brand.
